Prayer
The Lord's Prayer
Found in the New Testament, in the Book of Matthew, Chapter 6: Versus 9-13. The Lord's prayer was given to the disciples and the crowds of people that had gathered from Jesus when He decided to preach from a mountain. The entire chapter is Jesus speaking and is worth reading over and over.
Our Relationship with God
Prayer is our time with God. There is no right or wrong way to communicate directly with God through prayer. You can pray at any time from anywhere you are. God is always here for us. God sees us as perfect, although we are sinners and fall short, because of the ultimate sacrifice His Son Jesus gave of Himself by coming down to earth in the flesh and living a life free of sin. Jesus died on the cross and defeated death and rose from the dead on the 3rd day. He walked among us for 40 days after He rose from the grave and ascended into Heaven promising His return.
Pray Constantly
"16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus. 19 Do not quench the Spirit, 20 do not utterly reject prophecies, 21 but examine everything; hold firmly to that which is good, 22 abstain from every form of evil."
1 Thessalonians 5:16-22
More Of What The Bible Tells Us About Prayer
6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:6-7
13 Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing psalms. 14 Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. 16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. 17 Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. 18 And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit.
James 5:13-18
2 Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving;
Colossians 4:2
26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
Romans 8:26-27
